About Singapore Management University

About SMU Global Summer Programme

It is a 4-week intensive programme focusing on Business, Innovation and Society in Asia, offering a suite of elective and enrichment courses designed to augment students’ knowledge and practical skills about Asia in general, through the use of real-life case studies and examples. Students will take 2 courses during the 4-week programme.

There are eye-opening company & site visits that allow students to experientially obtain first-hand knowledge about how businesses are run in Singapore; and opportunities to network with respected CEOs & industry experts from various fields. Students may also sign up for many weekend activities, from city tours to beer brewery visits and food trails.

Program Date

Four weeks from 3 to 28 July 2017

Notes:

  • You are expected to arrive on the day before the program starts for student dormitory check-in. Please refer to the host institution’s acceptance package for the arrival information.
  • You should only depart after completion of the program.


Fees

Students may join this program in two ways:

  • Exchange - Under the student exchange agreement, students joining this program as exchange students will have tuition and application fees waived. HKUST students will bear the costs for accommodation, meals, travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and other administrative fees.
  • Partnership - Students may also participate in the program as fee-paying students. HKUST students applying through and nominated by HKUST can enjoy the partnership benefit below.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for summer exchange if you:

  • will have completed Year 1 by the start of program; and
  • have a cumulative CGA of 3.0 or above.

Application Process

HKUST students must apply through the Global Student Programs Office. Individual direct application to the program will not be accepted.

To apply, click the “Apply Now” button on this page. The whole application process has two steps.

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents (CLICK HERE for details)
 
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY HKUST)

If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Detailed information and application instructions will be provided in due course.

Financial Assistance

Credit Transfer

You are advised to discuss your study plan with your major department or any pre-major advisors in your School. For details of the credit transfer procedures, please CLICK HERE.


Visa Information

You are responsible to check the visa requirements with Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advance.


Health Insurance

Students are required to purchase mandatory medical insurance that covers the entire period of study. Details can be found HERE.
